Minutes of the 2011 Annual Meeting

Before the annual meeting of the membership, the attendees shared in a fine meal made by the participants including recipes from many countries.

The annual meeting of Bloomington Worldwide Friendship (BWF) was held on March 6 at the Phi Delta Kappa Professional Education Assoc. Headquarters in Bloomington, IN.  Co-Presidents Hiromi  Sumiyoshi and Harriet Kulis opened the annual meeting with introduction of officers and directors of BWF.   In the year 2011 the term of Jillian DeHaan came to an end but she is willing to serve for another term.  The members assembled unanimously voted for her re-election.  Harriet told the membership that because Anne Bright had accepted the vacant position of Vice President there was an open director’s position and invited any member to let a co-president know if they were interested in being part of the board.

Hiromi put forth a change to the By-Laws of the BWF. Article 6 Section 1 states that the annual meeting of the BWF Organization should be held on the first Monday of March unless there are extenuating circumstances.  Because of the difficulty in scheduling in the month of March, the board recommends that the by-laws be changed to allow the flexibility of scheduling the annual meeting anytime in March as determined by the board.  Acceptance for the change in the by-laws was motioned by Anne Bright and seconded by Charlotte Griffin.  With the unanimous vote of the members present, the change to the by-laws was approved.

Hiromi and Harriet then opened the meeting to comments and questions from the attendees of the annual meeting. There were no comments or questions.

Harriet announced that the date for the fall picnic at Lake Lemon had been selected to be October 2nd.  More information will be available on the BWF website as the date approaches.

Harriet requested that members who do not have email be sure to let the board know how the board could best contact them with information about BWF activities.

There being no other business, the annual meeting was adjourned.
